I was going to write about plot twists, but not today. You find me in a somber mood as my beloved mum begins her final decline. At 99 with dementia, you'd say 'the sooner the better,' 'It's for the best,' but dying is difficult to witness. I have been a nurse for over 40 years and seen death before, but this is different. This is my mum. She doesn't know where she is and is desperately trying to be normal, but she has no energy, no appetite, no more will to live. What can I do? Nothing but sit and hold her hand and tell her I love her and write her story so no-one forgets a brave, creative lady.
